Kinesio® Taping Method

At Holmes Chiropractic, we go beyond standard adjustments when it comes to pain management and prevention. We’re certified in the Kinesio Taping® Method – a technique that has been breaking new ground in the fields of sports performance, pain management and physical therapy.

Kinesio Tape was developed in 1979 by Japanese chiropractor, Kenzo Kase, D.C., but it wasn’t until the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics that it gained worldwide recognition and popularity. Kinesio Tape is fundamentally different from conventional sports tape, which limits range of motion and circulation by restricting movement of the affected muscle and joints. Kinesio Tape techniques are designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process by supporting and stabilizing muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. Central NJ chiropractor Monmouth Spine And Soft Tissue believes that Kinesio Tape is one of the most effective tools to treat injuries caused by overuse in athletes today.

How are Kinesio Tape Techniques Performed?

Kinesio Tape is highly elastic. When adhered to the skin, it lifts tissue away from the injured area and fascia, allowing blood to flow properly. This alleviates swelling, and improves range of motion of the injured muscle and joint, thus facilitating the healing process. There are virtually hundreds of ways to apply the tape to re-educate the neuromuscular system, reduce pain and inflammation, enhance performance, prevent injury, promote good circulation and healing, and assist in returning the body to homeostasis. A thorough assessment by our chiropractors will dictate the specifics of your Kinesio Tape application. Utilizing the single “I” strips in the shape of an “X”, “Y” or other specialized shapes, we will vary the direction and amount of stretch as needed.

From Kinesio Tape shoulder techniques and Kinesio Tape ankle treatments to Kinesio Taping knee techniques and Kinesio Tape plantar fasciitis procedures, you can trust you’re getting the most customized taping plan for your needs at Central NJ’s Holmes Chiropractic.
